Corporate Safety & Risk Manager (Calgary)
The Safety and Risk Manager will be responsible for managing and the company's safety and risk management program. Responsibilities would include development and administration of safety, health, and loss control program; handling of property/liability claims, ensuring supply chain compliance with insurance/WCB requirements and coordinating assigned activities with outside agencies. The position reports to the Director of Corporate Support. This position pays $75,000 - $85,000 + bonus + benefits. Key Deliverables
- Project lead on all health and safety initiatives and workflow
- Ensure company-wide compliance with COR/WCB/Insurance policies
- Administer monthly reports and data collection
- Manage WCB claims and liaise with insurance
- Site audits and investigations
- ACSA liaison
- Provide training and support for employees
- Actively seek innovative methods to better manage safety and risk within the organization
Qualifications
- Minimum two years related experience including managing Health and Safety Programs
- Certification as a Safety Auditor (MHSA)
- Holds an accredited National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation
- Valid Driver's License and clean Driver's Abstract
- Strong customer care skills
- Strong computer and software skills
- Willing to travel
- Ability to provide leadership and work together with a property management team
- Completion of extended Health and Safety training programs: WHMIS, Leadership for Safety Excellence
Responsibilities
- Occupational Health and Safety
- Coordinate semi-annual safety meeting to set and review annual objectives
- Plan, initiate, and lead safety related projects, initiatives, and workflow
- Produce safety reports and monthly safety packages
- Track incidents, near misses, and other monthly safety related data
- Liaison with WCB representative and lead on WCB claims
- Lead investigation of incidents and provide guidance to regional safety representatives
- Communicate and advise on occupational health and safety policies and standards
- Conduct on-site safety inspections and audits as may be required for buildings and projects, ensuring that employees and sub-contractors are adhering to safety practices
- Document safety assurance inspections and corrective measures and work to achieve continuous improvement
- Provide guidance on risk mitigation and install controls as required (after senior level vetting) to ensure that the health and safety of individuals remains in the forefront
- Participate in regional safety and operational meetings as required
- Develop emergency response plans and other risk control plans
- Administer the company's GPS location system for employees working along
Risk Control
- Manage company vendor lists for compliance with company policies
- Ensure compliance with company supply chain principles
- Monitor vendor COR and insurance requirements
- Monitor vendor WCB performance
- Communicate and advise on supply chain policies and standards to limit exposure and risk
Administrative duties assigned to this position
- COR audit preparation
- COR audit report
- Monthly and annual safety statistics
- Monthly safety package preparation
- Draft SOP's, SWP's, SJP's, and new safety documents
- Maintain safety files
- Monitor lone worker program
- Completion of investigation reports
- Develop management plans i.e. emergency response plans, pandemic response plans, and other health and safety plans
- Training material
- Prepare monthly vendor report
Perform other duties as assigned.
