Director of Sales/Special Events Coordinator

My client, is currently seeking a Director of Sales /Special Events Coordinator for their Bowen Island property. The ideal candidate will be well connected , and have a background working with Special Events and Corporate Sales, event planning, marketing, and Hospitality Management. This property caters largely to corporate retreats, weddings, groups and special events and requires a well organised, take charge individual with a creative flair, to see projects through from inception to completion. The Director of Sales/Special Events Coordinator will be required to generate business for the venue and work with the clients throughout the sales cycle to ensure the customer's vision becomes reality.
Every event must be "picture perfect" following through with all of the client's specifications. Someone with an existing knowledge base of the best local florists, caterers, etc..would be an asset . Many of the clientele will require direction and "one to one" service. My client is looking for someone with class and creativity and the ability to "hand hold" if needed through the planning process. Additional responsibilities will include providing direction to an existing small team, and overseeing the activities of the property, ensuring that events are run efficiently and that the customer's needs are met to their complete satisfaction. Excellent communication skills are a must , in addition to strong organisational skills, marketing acumen, and the ability to bring people together on each project professionally. Someone fluent with social media and strong ties to the local community is ideal as well as connections in the business community. This is a great position for a "roll up your sleeves" "yes, I can" person who has vision, and dedication to bring this lovely property to the next level. Salary is commiserate with experience.
